TFH:AR Principles

Churches, organizations, mission groups, and individual volunteers who participate in TFH efforts in the focal counties will gain a greater awareness of our biblical mandate with the poor and will be able and willing to implement what they have learned with the poor in their home communities. We will encourage, educate, and equip these groups to engage appropriately and cross-culturally in our communities.

Principles

  1. Respect: All people have basic dignity and can contribute to their future. Respect is the foundation of our relationships.
  2. Relationship:  We focus on equal relationships with community members, not on results. We focus more on the process, not the product.
  3. Reciprocity: We focus on mutually exchange and mutually beneficial relationships – both local and outside partners have gifts, skills and abilities to teach. Not only do our outside churches teach in our community, they will have opportunities to learn from the local community.
  4. Reconciliation:  Where there is division in our community, we strive to facilitate unity, peace and understanding through respect, relationship and reciprocity.

Goals of TFH-AR

Local Leadership: We are committed to listening, learning and empowering our community to take leadership and ownership of their dreams.

Church Engagement:  We are committed to teaching outside churches biblically-founded community development principles, creating opportunities for churches to learn from local residents, and facilitating opportunities for churches to resource local partners.
